We know each student’s birthday is an important day. At school, classroom teachers acknowledge the birthday student and parents may send in a favorite read aloud book to be shared with the class. Birthday celebrations in the classroom are limited to this recognition in grades kindergarten and up. No food, drinks, or goody bags will be permitted in class. In Pre-K, parents may come in on their child’s birthday to read a story to the class and provide that day's snack.
Birthday parties take away from instructional time and are often accompanied by foods that are not healthful as per the Chancellor’s Regulations. These foods may also cause allergic reactions and leave classrooms dirty. Please do not send invitations for birthday parties to school for the teacher or student to distribute.
