School-wide Improvement Teams

PS/IS 217 staff is committed to continuous reflection and overall school improvement. In 2014, we began School-wide Improvement Teams (SwIT). Our staff collaborates in vertical teams to address main areas/priorities that align to our school vision and mission and were based on staff and parent/guardian concerns and feedback. They are: Community Service, Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education, School Community & Culture, Student Voice, Sustainability, and Wellness. These are teams that staff have devoted a great deal of time and resources to over the years. The teams have all established philosophies, and where appropriate, policies. Each year, they set goals and monitor, evaluate, reflect and revise along the way. This year, it is our goal to include families and students.
